Digital Currency is Reinvigorating Fortitude Valley: Here’s Why It’s a Major Deal

Mostly known for its thriving nightlife and party scene, Fortitude Valley has been the entertainment centre of Brisbane for ages.

But it wasn’t always that way. Within the last century, a $4 million reimagination of a historic shopping precinct centre paved the way for what the Valley is today.

A Reimagination of a Historic Centre

The historic TC Beirne (built in 1902) and Burlington Building were two of the most popular department stores and acted as centrepoints in Fortitude Valley. In fact, in the 1950’s (and paired with McWhirter’s), they served as a centrepoint of urban retail and were established as the largest shopping precinct outside of a CBD in Australia.

After their 2017 refurbishment and complete with modern design and thoughtful craft, the spaces adapted into new commercial and retail lots to house the best and brightest in startup and entrepreneurial minds.

The businesses working in this space include TravelbyBit, River City Labs, eHealth Queensland, Softbank Technologies, ClipChamp, Myriad, and more. And they work hard to bring together Queensland startups, investors, and more in an innovative space built for collaboration.

Now, the Valley’s undergoing a massively exciting and innovative transformation of its urban retail environment. And cryptocurrency is coming right along with it.

This area began its ascent as a retail destination, and we’re helping take it to the next level in 2018. We couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this regeneration!

Our part of the restoration comes via integration of our point-of-sale technology allowing businesses to accept payment in digital currencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and more.

We believe the Valley is the perfect place to plug in our digital roots, and a magnificently-focused community for which to launch our cryptocurrency initiative.

A short walk through Brunswick Mall or Chinatown will demonstrate the diversity of the suburb, one that’s filled DJs, Thai food specialists, tech startup owners, and dancers alike. An area with people on-the-go, people catching up with mates, and people just hanging out to pass the time.

With the latest additions of Ltd Espresso + Brew Bar, Juice Energy, and Steph’s Cafe (with more new crypto-accepting merchants being added every day), we’re off to a cracking start in our effort to bring a crypto-cultural boost to the area and increase adoption of blockchain and Bitcoin technology.
